Healthcare is Business: Want a job? Really? Here's Some ...

I was just on Linkedin reading through discussions. As always, there are a lot of conversations about how to write the perfect resume, how to conduct yourself during the interview, how to dress for an interview, etc. These articles are very informative and the advice makes sense... But, (yes, there is a but) there is one secret key to success that is rarely mentioned.

If you include this secret all the rest will fall in place. If you include this secret you WILL write the perfect resume, you WILL be confident and act appropriately in the interview, and you WILL dress for success. Further, your chances of getting the job increase exponentially. In the long term, you will have job satisfaction, job security, and work-life balance.

Now you are probably thinking, ?what?s she selling?? I am selling simple, plain-old common sense. It cost you a little bit of time and effort but ultimately, the return on investment is massive. It will benefit you as an employee and it will benefit the employer to whom you dedicate your career. So, are you ready for the secret?

The secret is a question you must ask yourself before applying for a job. After you have asked yourself this question, we will need to put a little effort into answering it. DO NOT jump to conclusions answering the question without due diligence. Most importantly, DO NOT apply for a job without answering the question first. Ok? without further ado, here is the question?. Do you want the job??That seems pretty obvious, right? Well, it?s not.

Let?s think about the word ?want?. Many make the mistake of mixing up ?want? with ?need?. You ?need? a job; therefore, in desperation you apply to anything and everything never considering what you really want or whether you really fit. So you get a job and you fulfilled the need, but it really wasn?t what you wanted. You are miserable and unmotivated. The dissatisfaction and lack of fulfillment makes you resent your job, your managers, and your coworkers.? Perhaps your performance is adequate? but don?t shine. Who is benefitting? If you are only adequate, what job security do you have? If you are miserable, do you really have work-life balance?

So, how do you know what you want? How do you find what you want? Lastly, how do you get what you want? Let?s start with the first question ? What do you want? The answer to this is all about your personality type. Are you a creative or analytical? Are you a team player or do you fly solo? Are you competitive or not? Do you prefer privacy or wide-open workspaces? Are you outgoing or introverted? Are you one who prefers sameness or do you thrive on change? Be truthful, there are no right or wrong answers. Keep asking yourself questions until you know your personality ? until you know what you want.

To give you a good understanding of how this works, I will tell you about my wants. I want a job where I can be creative and analytical at the same time. I prefer wide-open workspaces where I can work with a team to produce amazing things. I compete against myself and therefore embrace change with the goal of constant improvement. Perhaps your is the exact opposite and that?s great too. It is all about finding what YOU want and matching it to what a company wants.

Now, on to the next question: How do you find what you want? Did you know that businesses have personalities too? In fancy terms, it is called the corporate culture. Finding the perfect job is like finding someone to marry. While you are dating (looking for a job/interviewing) you are looking for someone who shares your core values and someone who has a personality (corporate culture) complementary to yours. Notice here, I said complementary not the same. Remember, sometimes opposites attract. For example, introverts often work very well with extroverts? somebody has to do all the talking :). Creative people can open new doors for those who are super-analytic and the super-analytic can add direction the creative person?s ideas.

When you are looking for a job, do your research! Get to know the company the same way as you would a date. Learn about their core values and find out whether you and the company have complementary ?personalities?. ?There are a ton of company personality indicators if you just look. First, start by reading the job description. This is not a passive, quick review?really read it. What type of language do they use? Does it have a lot of business jargon, is it hi-tech , is it youthful? What are the requirements and the ?preferred experience? for the job? This is important, but not only to determine if you have those skills/traits/education (obviously), but also the requirements of the job tell you what the company values. Is a bachelors degree required and an MBA preferred? Clearly they value education. Do you value formal education or do you value the school of hard knocks?

Next, look thoroughly read the company?s website for clues. What are their mission, core values, long-term goals? How do they describe themselves on the career page? What benefits do they offer? Again, there is more to this than the obvious. Benefits show you what they value most.? Check out recent press releases to understand how the company works toward their goals. Look at their advertising to understand the brand image. Look the company up on websites like Glassdoor to see what employees say about the company (Remember though, you must take everything employees say with a grain of salt. Some people have axes to grind. Look for trends rather than specific complaints).?

Now that you have gotten to know the company, would you 'marry' them? (Remember you will spend as much time at work as you do at home - so isn't a job like a marriage). Does your personality complement their personality? If the answer is no ? move on. If the answer is yes, apply for the job.

The best part of all this corporate personality research is that you have now learned how to write your resume and cover letter to really grab their attention. Make sure your resume and cover letter are truthful and tailored show how you are a perfect fit for their culture. In the cover letter, take the opportunity to tell them about the personality similarities and use your prior successes to support that idea. Yes, this means you may have to rewrite your resume/cover letter for each job to which you apply? but if you really want something ? you are willing work for it, right? I don?t know about you, but my successes?weren't?handed to me on a silver platter.

When it finally comes to the interview, ask questions about the corporate personality. Get to know the employer more intimately. Interviewing should be a two way street. In the best situation, the employer interviews you and you interview the employer. Don?t be arrogant about it, but there is no harm in getting to know someone. Best of all, it shows that you are genuinely interested, that you researched, and that you want to make sure that you will be perfect for the company. No one wins if you don?t love your job. Perks, benefits, and corner office may sound great but they are not necessarily fulfilling.

The upshot? stop acting desperate and stop being lazy. Sending the same resume to hundreds of jobs that don?t fit (personality or experience for that matter) ? is just plain-old lazy. If you want a job, really want a job ?? work for it!

Reference Notes: The Future of Academic Libraries, An Interview ...

Paul Zenke > ?3/26/2012 I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Steven J. Bell, the Associate University Librarian for Research and Instruction at Temple University, and current Vice President and President Elect of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). Steven received his Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania?s Graduate School of Education. Steven?s most recent book, coauthored with John Shank, Academic Librarianship by Design: A Blended Librarian?s Guide to the Tools and Techniques lays out a new vision for designing the future of academic libraries enabling librarians to become indispensable partners in the college teaching endeavor by integrating themselves into the instructional process.
?What can we do as academic librarians to better prepare ourselves for what is certainly an uncertain future? We just have to think more entrepreneurially and look for these opportunities.?

Unbundling of Higher Education

Steven thinks new learning initiatives like MITx and Udacity?s massive open online courses are an opportunity for academic libraries to serve non-traditional, potentially unaffiliated students, who he refers to as higher education?s new majority learners. In a recent article from his From the Bell Tower Library Journal column he suggested two possible scenarios for academic libraries within this emerging unbundled higher education landscape.

[snip]

Some in the press have suggested these initiatives will topple the ivory tower, knock down campus walls, crumble higher education?s monopoly, and start an Arab Spring of free online learning.
Steven has a more nuanced prediction:

Am I painting a scenario in which traditional higher education and their academic libraries have no future? If it reads that way that?s certainly not the intent. I believe many traditional colleges and universities will continue to thrive and provide the type of experience that many students still want, although the number of families who can afford the tuition is likely to decline. Just anticipate fewer traditional institutions, and fewer academic libraries supporting them.?
Rising costs are a major factor forcing change in academic libraries. Steven is working to address these issues directly through a new textbook project at Temple University.

Alt-Textbook Project

College students are spending on average $1,100 a year on books and supplies. Temple?s new Alt-Textbook Project is trying to change that. The initiative provides faculty members with a $1,000 grant to create new original digital learning materials with the goal of creating free, timely, high-quality resources for students. Steven recently spoke to Temple?s student radio WHIP about the project. Steven discusses the Alt-Textbook project as part of a larger Alt-Higher Education movement.

Blended Librarians

Steven, with his colleague John D. Shank, developed the concept of the Blended Librarian, a new form of academic librarianship that integrates instructional design and technology skills into the traditional librarian skill set

[snip]

User Experience

Steven?s recent work has focused on improving the user experience at the Temple University Libraries through researching the needs of students, and by gathering ideas from Library staff. Using the Study of Great Retail Shopping Experiences in North America Steven surveyed students on their expectations to ?gain insight into what would comprise a ?WOW? experience for student members of the academic library?s user community, ... .

[snip]

Academic Library Roles

In a previous post I discussed ARL?s 2030 Scenarios Project and ACRL?s ?Futures Thinking for Academic Librarians: Higher Education in 2025? report. Drawing on those projects, and my conversation with Steven Bell, I created this chart to summarize my current thoughts on the historical, emerging, and future roles of academic libraries across several topics.

Austin said that the case against Robert Bales, the soldier accused of killing Afghan villagers is set to go through a ?long process." (AP Photo/Ted S. Warren)

(AP) ? U.S. investigators believe the U.S. soldier accused of killing 17 Afghan civilians split the slaughter into two episodes, returning to his base after the first attack and later slipping away to kill again, two American officials said Saturday.

This scenario seems to support the U.S. government's assertion ? contested by some Afghans ? that the killings were done by one person, since they would have been perpetrated over a longer period of time than assumed when Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was detained March 11 outside his base in southern Afghanistan.

But it also raises new questions about how Bales, who was formally charged Friday with 17 counts of premeditated murder and other crimes, could have carried out the nighttime attacks without drawing attention from any Americans on the Kandahar province base.

The two American officials who disclosed the investigators' finding spoke on condition of anonymity because the politically sensitive probe is ongoing.

Many details about the killings, including a possible motive, have not been made public. The documents released by the U.S. military Friday in connection with the murder charges do not include a timeline or a narrative of what is alleged to have happened.

Bales, 38, is accused of killing nine Afghan children and eight adults. The bodies were found in Balandi and Alkozai villages ? one north and one south of the base, in Kandahar's Panjwai district.

Bales also was charged with six counts of attempted murder and six counts of assault in the same case.

U.S. investigators now believe that Bales walked off his base that night and killed several people in one of the villages, then went back to the base. The American officials, who are privy to some details of the investigation, said they do not know why Bales returned, how long he stayed or what he did while there.

He then slipped off the base a second time and killed civilians in the second village before again heading back toward the base. It was while he was returning the second time that a U.S. military search party spotted him. He is reported to have surrendered without a struggle.

Bales is being held in a military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

There have been previous suggestions that Bales could have returned to base after the first set of shootings, but the American officials who spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday provided the first official disclosure that U.S. investigators have come to this conclusion.

Members of the Afghan delegation investigating the killings said one Afghan guard working from midnight to 2 a.m. on March 11 saw a U.S. soldier return to the base around 1:30 a.m. Another Afghan soldier who replaced the first and worked until 4 a.m. said he saw a U.S. soldier leave the base at 2:30 a.m. It's unknown whether the two Afghan guards saw the same U.S. soldier.

U.S. officials have said Bales left the base the first time armed with his 9mm pistol and M-4 rifle, which was outfitted with a grenade launcher.

Bales' civilian attorney, John Henry Browne, said Friday that he believes the government will have a hard time proving its case and that his client's mental state will become an important issue. Browne has said Bales suffered from the stress of serving four combat tours.

The decision to charge Bales with premeditated murder suggests that prosecutors believe they have sufficient evidence that he consciously conceived the killings.

The maximum punishment for a premeditated murder conviction is death. The mandatory minimum sentence is life imprisonment with the chance of parole.

(AP) ? The U.S. Justice Department could bring a hate crime charge against the shooter in the killing of black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin if there is sufficient evidence the slaying was motivated by racial bias and not simply a fight that spiraled out of control, legal experts and former prosecutors say.

So far, only one such clue has surfaced publicly against 28-year-old George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who fatally shot the 17-year-old Martin on Feb. 26 in the central Florida town of Sanford. On one of his 911 calls to police that night, Zimmerman muttered something under his breath that some listeners say sounds like a racial slur. Zimmerman's father is white, and his mother is Hispanic.

"It sounds pretty obvious to me," said Donald Tibbs, a Drexel University law professor who has closely studied race, civil rights and criminal procedure. "If that was a racial epithet that preceded the attack on Trayvon Martin, we definitely have a hate crime."

Others, however, say the recording is not clear enough to determine what Zimmerman actually said. And many experts say more evidence would be needed that he harbored racial prejudice against black people and went after Martin for that reason alone. There had previously been burglaries in the complex committed by young black males, possibly heightening Zimmerman's suspicions when he spotted Martin.

"They are going to have to show he was specifically targeting this individual based on his race, creed, color, et cetera," said David S. Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor in Miami. "Not that he was chasing somebody down and got in a confrontation that may or may not have been based on that."

Zimmerman's parents, in a letter to a local newspaper, insisted their son is not a racist, and several black residents of the neighborhood where Martin was shot have only good things to say about Zimmerman. Zimmerman has not been charged with any crime and is claiming self-defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, which eliminated a person's duty to retreat when threatened with serious bodily harm or death. He claims Martin attacked him as he was walking back to his truck, according to police.

"He's not a racist," attorney Craig Sonner said about his client. "The incident that transpired is not racially motivated or a hate crime in any way."

Those "Stand Your Ground" laws, in place in about two dozen states, have come under increasing scrutiny. U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., on Sunday sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder asking for a federal investigation into whether killings are going unprosecuted because the laws put too much of a burden on local authorities.

Martin's parents and hundreds of supporters say Zimmerman should have been immediately arrested and charged with the youth's killing, but local police say they have little evidence to disprove his self-defense claim. A grand jury will be convened April 10 to consider whether to bring state charges, which could include second-degree murder or manslaughter.

After receiving a no-confidence vote from the city commission, Police Chief Bill Lee announced last week he was temporarily stepping aside from his post. The city manager, Norton Bonaparte Jr., said officials want the case to be resolved fairly.

Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, who has been appearing at rallies with Martin's parents to call for an arrest, said the Justice Department should investigate the case as a hate crime.

"Any time you have a pattern of engagement based on someone's having a particular group in mind, that qualifies for hate crime inquiry," Sharpton told The Associated Press.

The Justice Department's civil rights division and the FBI are conducting their own probe in the case, and a federal hate crimes charge could come out of that no matter what state authorities do. The hate crimes law carries a potential life prison sentence when a death is involved.

Tibbs said one key is determining whether Martin's race alone was the reason Zimmerman decided to follow him in his vehicle. Martin, who was from Miami, was staying in the neighborhood with his father and father's fianc?e and was returning from a convenience store with Skittles and a can of iced tea when the confrontation took place. He was not armed.

"He was not suspicious. What makes him suspicious in the moment is the fact that he was black. If Trayvon Martin was white, would any of this have happened?" Tibbs said.

If Zimmerman were a police officer or a government official, he could be prosecuted by the Justice Department for using his official authority to violate Martin's civil rights. That was the case made against Los Angeles police officers who had been acquitted in state court of beating Rodney King, which sparked huge riots. Two of the four officers were eventually convicted of federal civil rights violations.

But Zimmerman was a volunteer watch captain, and even though he had a permit to carry his Kel Tek 9mm semiautomatic handgun, he didn't have any official law enforcement or government authority.

Another possibility is an investigation of the Sanford Police Department itself, including questions about whether any evidence was destroyed or covered up, or whether there has been a pattern of problems involving black people. City officials insist they did an appropriate and thorough investigation, but if such violations occurred federal prosecutors could bring civil rights conspiracy charges against anyone responsible. Bonaparte did acknowledge last week that the police department has had issues with the city's African-American residents.

For instance, in 2010, it took a month for investigators to arrest and charge the son of a police lieutenant who was accused of knocking out a homeless black man. The attack was captured on video.

"This police department, how they've handled this case and how we are hearing of other cases, needs a thorough review by the Justice Department," Sharpton said.

Ultimately, much depends on the results of the state grand jury investigation. If Zimmerman ultimately is charged in Martin's death, the Justice Department may not bring its own separate case depending on the outcome of any trial.

The mere presence of federal investigators could ensure a more thorough probe, said University of Florida law professor Michael Siegel.

"A lot of times when these things are getting potentially explosive, they want to step in and say, 'We're looking over the shoulder of the locals here,'" said Siegel, a former federal prosecutor. "That often helps calm the public down. It does put some pressure on the local law enforcement to take a second look and do it right."

Lactose intolerance can sometimes be in the head, not the Gut ...

In the study, Basilisk and his colleagues evaluated 102 patients, 77 were women, who took a breathalyzer test commonly used to identify lactose intolerance. Patients also completed a questionnaire on somatisation, anxiety and depression. The results surprised Dr. Mary didn t Maisha, director of the Center for Surgical diseases of the esophagus at the University of California at Los Angeles.

This is important because not eating dairy products increases the risk of calcium deficiency and osteoporosis, the researchers noted.

Those with somatoform disorders often report more problems in different parts of the body, such as weakness or weakness of a body part, said Basilisk, but no physical cause can be found.

SOURCES: Basilisk Guido, MD, researcher, IRCCS-Ca Granda, Milan, Italy Maria Maisha, MD, associate professor of clinical surgery, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, and Director of Surgery, UCLA Center for eating disorders esophageal May 8, 2011, presentation, Digestive Disease Week in Chicago

And SA real thing, in fact these symptoms, he said. Most industry experts say, do not think that many of the symptoms is called lactose intolerance are probably more related to other types of psychological problems that have not been addressed.

However, when it seemed Basilisk those with what he called somatization altered, has found that patients with somatization are changed four times more likely to report an intolerance to lactose.

Italian researchers report that some people who think they are lactose intolerant can actually suffer from a psychological condition called somatoform disorder.

For more information on lactose intolerance, visit the National Institutes of Health.

Patients can then focus on the real causes of the problem and get back to eating dairy products, he added.

With true lactose intolerance, a person is deficient in lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose. Ill say they feel bloating, gas, intestinal pain and nausea when eating or drinking products that contain milk sugar lactose.

He presented the findings this week at Digestive Disease Week in Chicago.

- The number of businesses to digitize their medical records in medical information systems is increasing.

This new study shows that some people should not blame the symptoms of lactose intolerance to lactose, said Dr.

Guido Basilisk, a researcher in the Department of Gastroenterology IRCCS-Ca Granda, Milan.

1-ton WWII-era bomb discovered near Marseille port

(AP) ? Officials in Marseille are evacuating an area around the French Mediterranean city's port so they can remove a 1-ton German bomb that dates to World War II.

Around 1,000 people have been asked to clear out Sunday. Boat traffic has been halted and access to several coastal roads blocked. The bomb will be taken to a military base to be detonated.

It was discovered a week ago by construction workers who accidentally pierced the explosive with their back hoe.

The regional government says the bomb's ignition system no longer works but the sheer amount of explosives ? 1,400 pounds (650 kilograms) ? made it dangerous.

The bomb was apparently buried by German soldiers, who had planned to destroy the city's port, as they retreated near the end of the war.

Santigold displays total career takeover at SXSW

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) ? Santigold remade South By Southwest into an eccentric dance party on Friday, turning the annual music conference and festival into a participatory event for some of her lucky fans.

The delightfully uncategorizable singer from Brooklyn pulled 17 fans on stage and invited them to dance to her upbeat anthem "Creator" at the SPIN Live Party at Stubb's Barbecue.

Santi White debuted songs from her new album, the appropriately titled "Master of My Make Believe," out May 1, and displayed her unique sense of style as she took the stage with a band dressed in Egyptian-inspired headdresses and necklaces and backup dancers who moved robotically throughout. White, dubbed the prom queen of SXSW by one music writer, wore a crown, sunglasses and kaleidoscopic outfit.

It was just one of a handful of colorful high-profile appearances for the critically acclaimed White, who also had a starring role at MTV's Woodie Awards on Thursday that will be televised Sunday night.

The shows were the first that displayed her almost total takeover of her own career, from heavy production work on the new album to all the small details that make up her act.

"I'm really interested in making art all over the place in so many ways," White said in an interview Thursday before her appearance at The Woodies. "That's why I'm so hands-on with so many different aspects. I do my music, but I also do choreography and design the costumes and direct my video because that's fun to me. The more things I can get my hands on, the more fun for me."

She talked about the new album; a rejuvenating if terrifying boat ride in Jamaica with producer Diplo at the helm that helped her get rolling on the new album; her move to Jay-Z's Roc Nation management team and the possibility of working with Odd Future's enigmatic rapper Earl Sweatshirt.

The songs on "Make Believe" didn't flow immediately when she first started working on it, she said as she balanced on an uncooperative recliner in her trailer. Suffering from a touch of writer's block and a few false starts, she took a trip to Jamaica with friends Diplo, Switch and John Hill, the creative team who largely helped her with her first album, "Santogold."

She found herself riding in a speed boat with Diplo and a seasick Hill and found inspiration on the waters around the area where the movie "Blue Lagoon" was shot.

"We were flying, like flying, and I was sitting cross-legged and every wave we hit my body would just fly up," she said. "Like, it was so dangerous. I was just like, 'Ahhhh!' Waves were crashing and there's a little stereo and it was blasting music, but it was distorted. It was just like a really dangerous element, but it was also exciting and at the same time there was all this beauty around, and I was just like, 'This is what my record should feel like."

Fans can get a glimpse of her experience by watching her video for "Disparate Youth," the first single from "Make Believe," which was filmed using the same boat and locale.

Shortly after that, White took control of her album. She would work with producers and other artists, but at the end of the day she took her tracks home and mixed them herself, looking for that vibe that so excited her in Jamaica.

"I'd say I was sort of the orchestrator," White said. "I was working with so many people, but at the end of the day I was the one who had to like glue it all together and actually make it work. Last time John Hill was my partner. This time I was the only constant and it was difficult, but at the same time I grew a lot as a producer and an artist and a person. I just had to dig down deep and trust myself, and I'm really proud of how it came out."

Oh, and that track with Earl Sweatshirt? It's possible, but not confirmed. "That's just Twitter talk," she said. "They're so cute. I was like, 'Hey, are you coming to South By Southwest?' And he was like, 'I have to go to school.'"

Lohan tweets it's a 'lie' that her car grazed man

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Lindsay Lohan said Wednesday that allegations that her car grazed a man's knee outside a Hollywood nightclub are "a complete lie."

Lohan went straight to her 3 million Twitter followers to respond to the latest in a long-line of car-related troubles for the "Mean Girls" actress and recent "Saturday Night Live" host.

"This is all a complete lie. I've been at community service," Lohan tweeted on her official account. "These false accusations are absurd."

According to police, Lohan's black Porsche was surrounded by paparazzi outside the club at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The man told officers her sports car grazed his knee outside the club.

Lohan drove off and a police report wasn't taken because the man, an employee of the Hookah Lounge near the club, wasn't hurt, Los Angeles police Sgt. Mark Ro said.

The 25-year-old starlet was trying to make a U-turn outside the Wilcox Avenue club.

"Space was tight," the sergeant said, adding that Lohan may have nudged the lounge employee's parked car, believed to be a Corvette, but it wasn't damaged.

"He came out and said, 'Don't hit my car,'" Ro said. "She was making a multipoint U-turn and photographers were in her way."

The sergeant said he didn't know who called police, but Lohan was gone when officers arrived.

"We did not take a report for hit-and-run," Ro said. "We didn't go looking for her."

TMZ.com first reported the incident.

Lohan and her publicist Steve Honig said she was trying to get to a friend's birthday party at the club, but she turned around when she was mobbed by photographers and never got out of her car.

"I attempted to wish a friend happy birthday, which I didn't even get to do because I was freaked out by all of the paparazzi," Lohan said on Twitter.

Honig said she and her Porsche did not make contact with anyone as she left.

"At no point was there ever any indication that her car hit anyone or anything," Honig said in a statement. "We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the next few days."

A phone message was left at the Hookah Lounge several hours before it opened, seeking comment from the man who was allegedly grazed. The call was not immediately returned.

Lohan has a history of bad luck with cars.

A woman claimed in a January lawsuit that she was struck by Lohan's Maserati while walking across a West Hollywood intersection in September 2010. Nubia Del Carmen Preza's lawsuit said she has suffered "disabling and serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish."

Photographer Grigor Balyan also sued Lohan in January, claiming he was struck by a vehicle in which Lohan was riding in January 2010.

During a court hearing last month, a judge praised Lohan on her progress in a long-running drunken driving case.

The former Disney star has been under strict probation guidelines imposed last year, including therapy sessions and weekly stints working at the morgue.

Lohan still had to complete 14 days of work at the morgue and attend five therapy sessions before the judge ends her probation on the 2007 drunken driving case.

She is due back in court March 29 for what could be her final court appearance if she stays out of trouble.

Lohan would remain on informal probation for a case filed after she took a necklace without permission in January 2011, but she would no longer have to report to a probation officer or appear in court for frequent updates.
