A few months ago I was asked if I would like to sample a Chocolate Mint Liqueur from John DeKuyper & Sons. I used it to make a fun adult shake, combining the liqueur with vodka and ice cream and we loved it.? Maybe a bit brazen but loved it so much I asked if I? could also get a bottle of their Chocolate Chili Liqueur. I?ve had this bottle sitting out for a couple of weeks now and planned to post something last Friday but, in case you didn?t notice, I did not get a cocktail post done last week. Sort of sad because I had not missed a post for my Friday Cocktail series in almost a year and a half but this whole ?getting the house ready to sell? business is hard work and it just didn?t happen. Ahem?well, the drink happened but the photo? No way, was too pooped so I just sipped that one without any photo obligations. Was sort of nice actually.
This was so easy?a bit of liqueur, a bit of vodka, a lot of ice and some shaking going on and voila?a great chilled, chocolatey martini with just a hint of pepper. My friends Karen and Ansh were here yesterday helping me with some tasks in my prep to putting my home up for sale (XOXOXOXOXO) and they sampled a bit. Ansh hit the nail on the head?the chili was just enough to provide a nice feeling of warmth and we all loved it. Mixed very simply with some vodka and it was a winner. Next on my agenda? Dying to try it with some hot chocolate!
I do love mixing it up with rimming sugar and this was perfect. A bit of sparkling sugar mixed with cocoa and cayenne pepper? Oh yeah.
I?ve always loved White Russian cocktails so thought I should at least test a version with this liqueur. How about a Chili Russian? Loved?both the cool swirly effect from combining the cream with the already mixed vodka and liqueur and the luscious taste. Both winners in my book.
Next? Hot chocolate?doesn?t that sound good too? Is it obvious enough I love this stuff? :)
