A couple of procedural matters fell into place before Cowboys officials left the office Friday afternoon.
The club placed a tender on Danny McCray. The $1.323 million tag gives the club the right to match any offer the safety may receive in free agency, although it is expected he will return.
The Cowboys also learned that Anthony Spencer will sign his $10.63 million franchise tag. Jordan Woy, the player?s agent, announced the decision on Twitter.
By signing the franchise tag, which Spencer will do early next week, it protects the linebacker-about-to-turn defensive end from having the tag removed and released at a later date if the two sides can?t agree to a long-term deal.
Spencer?s preference is to sign a long-term contract to remain with the Cowboys. The two sides have until July 15 to make that happen.
